If you are looking for a band for a wedding you may have already decided that you want to have the wedding breakfast or reception in a Hotel or Marquee.
Have a look at our venue page as it has a lot of useful information about many different types of venue.
Village and community halls are great venues as they are usually a good size for dancing and have all of the facilities you need in one space. Some have particular rules about types of entertainment, volume, food, drink, rubbish disposal, etc. so it is best to check out their terms and conditions. Also, find out about finishing and locking up times as I have seen over-zealous caretakers and wardens put an unpleasant end on a good evening? Scallywag Ceilidh Band are all professional musicians and came together more than fifteen years ago from some of the busiest and most popular folk dance bands in Somerset to develop our unique blend of traditional and contemporary folk music.
In that time we have played at over 500 weddings and social dances providing entertainment to suit the young and old alike.
We pride ourselves on being able to vary the style (and the volume) from traditional folk music through to a rocky, contemporary sound that's sure to get everyone's feet moving.
We have all been playing folk and other music for as long as we can remember. Gordon, the caller and founder of the band, was a professional trombonist, arranger and MD playing in cabarets and shows across Europe. Between us we have played in rock covers bands, circuses, brass bands, jazz orchestras and symphony orchestras.
These different influences make up the sound of 'Scallywag'
